(p.1)译文：当你在遛狗的时候，你不小心让狗走散了，结果狗被车撞了。【用法说明】while walking 属于“连词+现在分词”结构，while walking the dog 的意思是“当遛狗的时候”，它也可转化为由 while 引导的状语从句，如改为 while you were walking the dog。类似的例子如：She trembled a little while (she was) doing so. 她这样做时稍稍颤抖了一下。He fell asleep while (he was) doing his homework. 他做着做着功课就睡着了。　　While (we were) doing so, we decided to sell our boat. 在这样做时，我们决定把船卖掉。　　除 while 外，连词 when 也可这样用。如：　　I tried to keep your advice in mind when (I was) writing the book. 写这本书时我设法记住你的劝告。　　They were surprised by her openness when (she was) talking about her private life. 她谈起私生活时非常坦率，大家都很吃惊。　　20. get loose 中的 get 为什么动词？　　【教材原句】　　While walking the dog, you were careless and it got loose and was hit by a car.
